Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create my first font?

Tap "New Font" on the home screen, name your project, and choose a trace mode. You can draw characters one at a time, write whole words, or write freely and let Scribbles segment the characters automatically. Once you've traced your characters, go to the Build step to generate your font.

What trace modes are available?

Scribbles offers three ways to input your handwriting:

How do I install my font on my device?

After building your font, tap "Install Font" in the Build step. The font will be registered on your device and available in the custom Scribbles keyboard. You can also export the .ttf file to use on other devices or in desktop applications.

How does the custom keyboard work?

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and select "Scribbles". The keyboard loads your built fonts from a shared container on your device. It does not require Full Access and does not send any data over the network.

Can I export my font to use on a computer?

Yes. Scribbles can export your font as a .ttf (TrueType) file. Pro subscribers can also export multi-weight TrueType Collection (.ttc) files. Use the share button in the Build step to export.

Can I import SVG glyphs?

Yes. If you've designed characters in another tool, you can import SVG files for individual glyphs. This is available on Plus and Pro plans.

What's the difference between Plus and Pro?

How do I restore my purchases?

Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID and restores automatically. If it doesn't appear, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase, then relaunch the app.

Is my data private?

Yes. All handwriting processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server. If you use iCloud, your projects sync through your private iCloud container. See our Privacy Policy for details.
